Polka Dot Pillow..

I was asked to teach a class at my church on sewing a basic pillow. I was so excited, to be able to show them how to create one for their home. I made another ruffle pillow, this time I made it my favorite color combo black and white, with polka dots of course.

Nightstands......

My husband just got done making us a bed, so I decided to make some nightstands. I found some great plans for some nightstand on my favorite blog ANA WHITE, her blog has plans for anything.  She makes it so easy to make with her step by step instructions. Anyway, I found a  "Ladder Table" I really liked, also could be used for a stepping stool. I used those plans and just added length on the tables and came up with 2 great night stands. I was really excited how they turned out.

A Quick, Fun Gift!!

I needed a fun quick gift for a friend. I have been LOVING the dry erase board using frames. I decided to make her an 8 X 10 frame, but using holiday scrapbook paper, so it can be used all year and add that fun holiday touch to your home.

I bought at Walmart a 8 X 10 frame for 3.96. The fun thing using frames you have a ton of sizes to choose from, your options are endless.

I gave it a coat of black paint (don't you love my painting towel, it has many years of projects on it). You can also by the same frame already black in the store, but I love the distressed look, so I stick to the brown. When you apply the black paint, you don't have to make it perfect, because you are going to take the sand paper to it right after.

This is what it will look at all distressed...GORGEOUS!!!

I bought some holiday themed paper and cut it to size. I am going to put the extra paper inside the frame so she can changed it each month. I just did it for the next 3 months, but you could easily do it for a Christmas gift and have a year worth of holiday paper cut and ready to go. Just throw in a dry erase marker and you are done. It was fun and easy and can't wait to give it to her!!

The Smell Of Cut Wood!!

I can tell you the smell of cut wood is one of my favorite smells (my husband thinks I am crazy) going in the lumber section at Lowe's smells so good.  I have been getting into making furniture, it is so FUN, when you finally finish a project and can sit on the furniture and it feels sturdy, it is SO exciting!!! Here is my latest builds!!

I usually love to paint my furniture and then distress it, but this time I decided to stain it..I used the "Miniwax", Red Mahogany 225 and LOVED the way it turned out. I only used one coat, because it was deep and rich with just the one. Then used the "Miniwax" Polyurethane , clear semi gloss. I did 2 coats on the whole table and then an extra coat on the top.

I decided I wanted to have an exposed bolt, I loved the way it turned out.

The grains of the wood turned out fantastic with the stain, gorgeous lines.

I decided to make a matching bench. My thoughts were to make 2 matching benches, so the kids could each have one, then on LONG bench. I just winged making this one and my measurements were a little off in size. But, it still works. Now, I just need to make my second one :0)

I used a variety of plans to make these from Ana White, her BLOG makes you feel like you can make ANYTHING!!! I LOVE it...
Have fun and build the perfect furniture for your house.

I saw this great idea on on Pinterest (which I am totally, utterly OBSESSED with) LOVE IT!!! It was a fun way to make a dry erase board and a fun visual for the kids to see what is going on. I bought the frame at Walmart for 11.96.

I can't wait to get it on my wall.

Can You Hear That, It's Quiet!!!!

We have been traveling a lot lately and came up with a GREAT idea...I have been using cookie sheets for awhile so, my kids can put coloring books on them and the crayons don't roll everywhere. Or, I have magnet tins that they play with and it keeps them all together.
I brought some random toys on one trip and they loved playing with them BUT, they of course always fell over. SO, the next trip I took all the little toys and put magnets on the bottom of them AND they loved it. They played over and over again with them. It made for a quiet time for MOM!!! YEA!!!

(Ya, do you notice my sons seat belt, he was yelling at me that he was "STUCK", I fixed it right after the picture!!! )

A Bench Made To Fit!!!

WOW!! I can't believe summer is almost over. We have been busy on vacation, playing and having fun lazy summer days!!!

We have been changing around the kids rooms, which made me loose a chest that sat outside my closet. We got use to a bench to sit on, so we needed something to replace it. I knew, I wouldn't be able to find the exact size I needed, so I decide to make one. My husband was going to be out of town for a few days, so I got started. I found these great plans, here on one of my favorite BLOGS,
Ana White. The plans were perfect, but it was too long, so I had to build it shorter. It took me a few hours, a little longer with lots of little hands helping. I LOVED The way it turned out and it fits PERFECT!!!! YEAH!!

Teacher Gifts

This is a little late post, but here are the gifts that my girls did for their teachers.
My first grader wanted to give her teacher a basket of gifts and then give the student teacher something.

We did a bundle of pencils

She painted a frame and we put a cute
picture of her and her teacher in it..

She made her a clip board, I let her pick out the paper and she antiqued the edges..she had so much fun making it for her teacher.

cute saying with goldfish

This is what it looked like all put together,
her teacher LOVED IT!!!

She made the student teacher a clipboard also
with a cute card and chocolate bar.

My daughter that is in Middle School, made
these for her teachers. Clipboards and fishies.

We did this for her coach, "I SKOR-ED BIG getting
you as a coach". WE made a cute envelope and inserted a SKOR bar,
with a sweet note.

My daughter in 1st grade wanted to give all of her classmate something, to thank them for being her friends. So, as a last minute things we put together little notes attached them to an airhead candy.

For the crossing walk "DUDE" we put together a little note "Thanks for BEE-ing the BEST cross walking DUDE"!!! (my daughters own words)
attached a bag of brown and yellow M & M's for a "BEE" effect.

I found this beauty at Goodwill the other day for 39.99. I fell in love with the knobs. I couldn't wait to get it home and start playing. I got it home and started sanding it...then I needed to find out what color. It is going in my daughters (6 years old) room, so I let her choose...PINK, PINK, PINK......
